
While, Sony released its new PlayStation Vita at E3 this year, Nintendo released something interesting as usual. It is the new Wii U which is a 6.2-inch tablet/controller/handheld which works with other existing Wii accessories. Yes, it is quite confusing but nevertheless we are excited to see what Nintendo has to offer with this new device.
This tablet controller includes a 16×9 touchscreen, D-pad, standard Nintendo A/B/X/Y buttons, L/R buttons & ZL/ZR buttons, an accelerometer, gyro sensor, rumble support, camera, mic, sensor and touch pen. It will also work with the already existing –Wii Zapper, balance board, Classic Controller and its variations. Further, the device would be capable of 1080p video output, it also includes four USB ports and a flash memory card slot.

The tablet device will allow users to switch games from TV to the handheld, it can be used for digital drawing or it can be used as a controlled when playing on the TV. Although, according to Nintendo it is not designed to be a portable gaming machine. The Wii U is not fully detailed yet however the new console’s disc format will be capable of storing up to 25 GB of data and it also has much improved graphics over the previous version. While the graphic improvement is not yet compared with other consoles, a few reports claim it would be 50% improved to that of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Further, Nintendo has also confirmed that the tablet controller device would not be sold separately, but would come bundled with the Wii U. The technical details may be released over time, the console is expected to hit the markets sometime in spring-summer 2012.
