Google Me Confirmed by Former Facebook CTO
A couple of days back we shared a rumor about Google trying to battle Facebook with their very own Social Networking platform called the Google Me. I am really interested about it as for a long time I have felt that Google may consider Facebook to be a threat. Facebook’s former-CTO Adam D-Angelo left Facebook to create Quora, which is a Q7A website and he confirmed it that it is “not only a rumor,” but there are many people working on the project at Google, ha also added that he is “completely confident about this.” Surely, Google’s Buzz which had the same intention failed miserably and it was very sure that if Google wants to create a better social network, they need to put in a lot of extra effort and it has to be a really appealing product, something very similar to Facebook. Here is what Adam D’Angelo said;
- This is not a rumor. This is a real project. There are a large number of people working on it. I am completely confident about this.
- They realized that Buzz wasn’t enough and that they need to build out a full, first-class social network. They are modeling it off of Facebook.
- Unlike previous attempts (before Buzz at least), this is a high-priority project within Google.
- They had assumed that Facebook’s growth would slow as it grew, and that Facebook wouldn’t be able to have too much leverage over them, but then it just didn’t stop, and now they are really scared.
Well, it would probably be a good thing for Google to get such a social network into their tray of already present brilliant applications and if they make even similar to Facebook I would be glad to be a part of it for many reasons. Also, with the latest security issues on Facebook we have seen a lot of people closing their accounts and this can be a catalyst for many to make a move to Google Me, if it is on its way.
