Talk about getting support from all quarters. Extending this notion into the cyber world, the anti-graft movement that was kickstarted by Anna Hazare and later taken up by Baba Ramdev has gotten unexpected support from the World’s most popular and well known group of hackers, Anonymous, as they hacked the website of the National Informatics Centre. The group has posted a message on the website that is addressed directly to the Prime Minister. The message reiterates the demands raised by Hazare and Ramdev, and pledges the support of Anonymous to their movements and its cause. Click on the snapshot below to read the message posted on the site.
The NIC for its part has not confirmed the hack, though Google Cache confirmed it, and while the site was down for maintenance some time back, it is up and running now. The group of hackers have also set up a Twitter account and a Facebook group, called Operation India, on which they have even issued a press release. They have clearly said that the attacks on the websites would continue till the movements end objectives were met, and that it would be useless to try and resist.

As a tech enthusiast who eagerly follows the exploits of Anonymous, I am glad that they finally have a Indian connection, and its even better considering that its in the support of the much needed and highly supported anti-corruption movement that will hopefully make way for cleaner officials in public offices. You can be sure that we will be following any further developments closely, and you can always catch the latest here on Gigjets!
