Acer Aspire S7 Ultrabooks announced in Taiwan [Computex 2012]
To the league of ultrabooks, Acer adds its two new S7 series touchscreen ultrabooks at Computex 2012. Both the devices are powered by an Ivy Bridge Processor and run on Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 8 platform.
These two new models come in 11.6 inch and 13.3 inch with full HD touchscreen displays which can turn up to 180 degrees vertically till the level of the keyboard. The ultrabook with a 13.1 inch sports Gorilla Glass protection while the 11.6 inch does not have one. The resolution remains 1920×1080 pixels with wide viewing angles despite the glossy screen.
The battery life of the 13.3 inch is claimed to be up to 12 hours while it remains 9 hours for the 11.6 inch model. The S7 ultrabooks will include SSDs (Solid State Drive) rather than the old school HDDs.
Other features are quite similar to each other, both devices have an aluminium body and the backlit keyboard which detects the light in the room for the backlit intensity.
The S7 series of ultrabooks is expected to hit the markets by October this year post Windows 8 launch. The pricing of these products is not yet revealed.
