Google Maps Android App Brings Improvements to Transit and Search Results
The official Google Maps app for Android users is one of the most used in the world, being downloaded by more than 1,000,000,000 times (yes, that’s correct – 1 billion). Therefore, naturally, all the updates that it receives are very important and useful, such as this one.
The latest version of Google’s Maps Android app has been recently update with some new features that you should be aware of. First off, the search results now appear right on the map, along with descriptions to help you make choices quickly. This will make navigation much easier on the screen, especially on Android tablets.
But the biggest change consists in the fact that transit results now display the total walking time of your trip and the next scheduled bus or train. This is one of the missing features that I personally was looking forward to, since I do quite a lot of walking and I use Google Maps on my Android smartphone not to get lost.
Last, but not least, it’s now possible to access Terrain view from the side menu in order to get a 3D view of the landscape and elevation. Again, another improvement that’s meant to make navigation swifter and much more efficient.
The Google Maps app for Android bring accurate maps in 220 countries and territories, as well as voice-guided GPS navigation for driving, biking, and walking. Even more, you get transit directions, live traffic conditions, incident reports, automatic, as wel as Street View and indoor imagery.
