Microsoft LOVES its Skype iPhone Users, Releases 5.1 Version up for Grabs now
Microsoft is showing a lot of love to its iPhone users who have downloaded the Skype app and have it running on their devices, as the Skype team has now released yet another update, just a week after the remastered Skype 5.0 version for iPhone has been released featuring a Windows Phone-like interface.
The current version of Skype, 5.1, brings some minor enhancements, but some that iOS customers have long been asking for. However, they are available only for iPhone owners, as the standalone Skype app for iPad users has been recently updated as well to version 4.17.3 with general fixes, and not these that we’re talking about below.
In the updated Skype app for iPhone, it’s now possible to filter the People list with new “Skype” and “Online” options. Also, the filter settings that you choose are saved across mobile and desktop Skype apps. In Skype 5.1 for iPhone it’s now quite simple to add people you message the most to your Favorites – you just need to tap the new Add Favorites link and voila, you’re done.
By long-tapping on the Recents tab, you will be able to delete a conversation from the list or edit messages that you’ve recently sent. To continue its cloud strategy, the People list is now better synchronized between desktop and mobile environments. Last, but not least, the app comes with general improvements and enhancements to the VoiceOver feature.
It’s nice to see that the Skype team responds so fast to the feedback sent in by iPhone user, so keep on doing that by sharing your input in the Skype Community, and we’ll be here to report on the next version as soon as it gets released.
