Currently, the list of devices that have been upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile includes Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL, BLU Win HD W510U, BLU Win HD LTE X150Q, Lumia 430, 435, 532, 535, 540, 550, 635 (1GB), 636 (1GB), 638 (1GB), 640, 640 XL, 650, 730, 735, 830, 930, 950, 950 XL and 1520, MCJ Madosma Q501 and Xiaomi Mi4 and this week, Microsoft has announced that the Lumia Icon will run on the new operating system, as well.

Gabriel Aul, Vice President, WDG Engineering Systems team, has confirmed that soon, users will be able to install Windows 10 Mobile Preview builds from the Dev Branch, and this means that they will need to join the Windows Insider program and install preview builds from there. However, Aul hasn’t specified when Windows 10 Mobile will officially roll out to this smartphone, because Microsoft will want to make sure that all bugs and errors will be fixed until then.

Lumia Icon – Specs

The Lumia Icon is a mid-tier smartphone with a 5-inch ClearBlack display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and which supports a Full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels at 441 ppi. Its dimensions are 137 x 71 x 9.8 mm, it weights 167 grams and it’s available in two variants of colors: black and white. The back is made of polycarbonate and the sides are protected with a matte metal frame.

The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.2 GHz Krait 400 processor that is backed by an Adreno 330 GPU and supports 2GB of RAM. Its internal memory has a capacity of 32GB, but the device doesn’t provide a card slot for memory expansion. The primary camera has Carl Zeiss optics, it uses PureView technology and supports a resolution of 20MP.

Some of the features that are worth mentioning are autofocus, optical image stabilization and dual-LED flash. As for the secondary camera, it’s very weak, as its resolution is only 1.2MP. The battery is disappointing as well, because its capacity is below average – 2420mAh and the unit can’t be replaced.
