Moto G4 2016 Latest News and Rumors – What We Know So Far?
Since it released the first Moto G model and up until today, Motorola has been dominating the market of quality specs and performance in mobiles at low prices. Although the last model was slightly more expensive than users were used to, it was still an impressive device.
The upcoming models, Moto G4 plus Moto G4 Plus are expected to continue this line of quality devices at affordable prices. Information about them has been leaked heavily and here is what we know so far about them.
Moto G4 Release Date
The release date that has been confirmed by Lenovo for a new Motorola device – we don’t know for sure if it will be Moto G4 – is June 9th 2016. Some rumors however, place the release date sometime this month because Motorola is scheduled for an event in India on May 17th.
Moto G4 Design
According to the leaked photos and schematics, the G4 model will be very similar to the last generation model – but with a plastic build that will either be white or black and a metal-like edge. Also, there will be no long metal accent under the camera like the previous model had.
It does appear to have two front speakers, but so did Moto G (2015) and it didn’t use both of them for audio, so that doesn’t really mean anything in terms of a better audio experience. On top of the phone there is a headphones’ port and on the right side we can see that there is a volume button and a power button as well.
Moto G4 Screen
Most rumors say that Moto G4 will have a 5.5 inch screen and so will the Plus version, which is a huge difference compared to the 5.0 inch screen on the Moto G (2015).
Moto G4 Rivals
One of the challengers of Motorola on the budget mobile market is Microsoft Lumia 650 that comes complete with an efficient camera, a good screen and a premium design. It also runs Windows 10 Mobile
Another challenger could be the OnePlus X smartphone which has a Snapdragon 801 processor, with a 1080p screen and 3 GB of RAM.
Last but not least, the leser known Oppo F1 smartphone is just as efficient and can be purchased for as little as 160 pounds.
Moto G4 Camera and Battery
In terms of camera, the two models, G4 and G4 Plus are said to be very different. The G4 model will supposedly have 13 MP back camera, whereas the Plus model will have 16 MP one, which mean that the latter one will be better. The leaked images also show a two-tone flash and two sensors above the lens that no one knows for sure what their purpose is.
Motorola has stated that the Moto G4 will better front and back cameras but there were no details in that statement. It also suggested that there will be improved battery performance.
Moto G4 OS and Power
Nothing is known and there are very few rumors about these two aspects – some tend to believe that it will have at least 2 GB of RAM, since that is what the 2015 model had. Also, the Moto G 2015 had a 1.4 GHz quad core Snapdragon processor and some believe that the G4 should at least have an octa core Snapdragon processor. Furthermore, it’s possible that both G4 models will have 16 GB of storage and that they will run Android Marshmallow since that is the last version of the OS.
Moto G4 other features
Some of the rumored features of the Moto G4 include a fingerprint scanner found only on the Plus version and water resistance as people expect Motorola to up its protection to IP68 like Samsung did for Samsung Galaxy S7.
Moto G4 Price
According to Roland Quandt, the model will sell for about 240 euros and the Plus version will sell for about 280 euros, which places the smartphone at the same standards that the last version with a 2 GB RAM camera had.
That being said, here is a list of what users would like to seen in the new Moto G4.
A Sharper Screen
Although it is rumored that it will have a 5.5 inch display, there are no rumors on the pixel amount but users expect it to have at least 1080p.
A Waterproof Build
While the Moto G already has a certain amount of water resistence, user believe that the next smartphone should be fully waterproof.
A More Stylish Design
Users are dissatisfied with the plastic-like design they/ve seen in the leaked photos so far and expect to see a premium design on the G4.
More Moto Maker Options
Another aspect users have complained about are the few options for customizing the smartphone’s appearance and they would like to have more: so far they can only change the color and texture – leather and wood.
A Bargain Price Tag
Some users hope that the next model will be slightly cheaper but still deliver that same quality specs and performance that they are used to.
