Microsoft’s new Surface Pro: Enemy of Apple’s iPad Pro
It seems like the Apple’s iPad Pro is facing a new enemy, which is Microsoft’s new Surface Pro. Microsoft brought up the new device at a media event in Shanghai and is already available on the market! The company says that their new product is better than the iPad Pro. Let’s find out if they’re right!
The Apple company launched the 12.9in version of iPad Pro in 2015 which is very close to the size of its enemy. A year after, a smaller 9.7in display version was launched in March. When it comes to the design, the new Surface Pro is basically the same. The Surface Pro is 292 x 201 x 8.5mm, weighing 1.69 lbs for Intel m3 version and 1.72lbs for the Intel Core i7 version.
iPad Pro, however, is 12.9in and 305.7 x 220.6 x 6.9mm. It’s slightly thinner than the new Surface Pro and also lighter at 1.57lbs for the Wi-Fi version and 1.59lbs for the Cellular model (which also includes Wi-Fi).
The Apple iPad Pro has the same typical design as we all expected, You’re getting it in Space Grey, Rose Gold and Gold colors. Surface Pro comes in a Platinum color but there will be more to choose from, soon enough. The new Surface Keyboard is also available, wrapped in Alcantara material.
Although the cover of this keyboard will add an extra 0.68lbs, Microsoft thinks that this is the most luxurious keyboard ever created. Apple’s Smart Keyboard comes with an additional 0.74lbs to your device, which is heavier than the Microsoft’s.
In this field, Apple gives us 2 options: an 8 MP rear camera with a 1.2 MP front camera for the iPad Pro, or a 12 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera for the newer 9.7in iPad Pro, perfect for those who consider this feature important. The 12.9in iPad Pro tablet can run 1080p videos but the recent one can easily record 4K. You can get an 8 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera along with 1080p video support, when buying Microsoft’s new device.
In India, the iPad comes at a price of 65.900 Rs if you aim for the 32 GB version with Wi-Fi, and 81.900 Rs for the 256 GB one. The Cellular version coupled with Wi-Fi is now 85.900 and 93.900 Rs for the 128 and 256 GB versions, respectively.
Unlike Apple, Microsoft offers a wide range of options. The Surface Pro’s price starts at $799 if you want the 128 GB version, accompanied by Intel Core m3 processor and 4 GB RAM. For the Intel Core i5 version, the price is $999.
For the price of $1299, you receive the 256 GB version, coupled with i5 processor and 8 GB RAM. In order to get the new i7 version of the processor, you need to have $1599 or $2199 for extra 8 GB RAM and 512 GB solid-state drive. Of course, there is also the 1 TB version, at $2699 for those who can afford it, but if you are a student you can easily get a discount.
