Mobile service operators Airtel and Aircel have confirmed that they will be launching the iPhone 4 in India on May 27. Both operators are simultaneously getting Apple’s latest incarnation of the iPhone.
Interestingly, Aircel has already made a move that is expected to undercut its competing rival in this arena. Aircel has announced that its postpaid customers can avail either 50 or 100 per cent of the value of the iPhone4 as talktime and data spread over a time period of 24 months. Prepaid users can enjoy similar services on iPhone 4G with a recharge ranging from Rs 599 to Rs 799. If properly implemented by the company, this sounds like a very sweet deal to us, one that would definitely get prospective buyers to go with Aircel rather than Airtel.
The phone will be available in both the 16 and 32 GB variant, and will come with prepaid as well as postpaid plans for both the operators. The device is priced at Rs. 34,500 for the 16 GB variant and Rs. 40,900 for the 32 GB variant. Now that the iPhone 4 is finally here, it will be interesting to see its sale performance with a whole army of green droids battling against it. And you can be sure that we will be there to cover every aspect of the battle!
