They both look roughly the same when it comes to their design. Even if they have different screen sizes, the iPad mini 4 is thinner than the iPad.

In the storage department, however, the iPad comes in 32GB or 128GB sizes, while the iPad mini 4 only comes in 128GB. They share a lot of similarities, until we reach the processor department. The faster processor, a 64-bit A9 chip with the M9 motion coprocessor is owned by the iPad. The iPad mini 4, has only a 64-bit A8 and M8 chips. The difference between the A9 and the A8 is the speed. The A9 is 1.6x faster at processing and 1.8x faster at graphics. Clearly, the A9 is more powerful and you will see the difference between playing games and running apps.

Display
Obviously, the display size is different from these two devices. Although the iPad is a 9.7in tablet and the iPad mini is 7.9in, they have the exact same resolution of 2048x1536p, but the iPad mini 4 has in fact more pixels per inch (326) than the iPad’s (264 ppi).

As you can see the prices are almost the same, with a difference of £10.

Conclusion
Personally, the best choice you could make is by considering what are you using the tablet for. You can run the same apps on both devices and get the same features. Only the size will influence your decision.
