Xiaomi Mi 6 vs Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime – These Smartphones Shouldn’t be in the Same Category

The Chinese tech manufacturer known as Xiaomi has just taken the market by storm today when it revealed the highly impressionable Mi 6. The latter is an overall high-end smartphone that’s more than capable of offering outstanding performances for the rather affordable price of $360. What’s surprising is that even though Xiaomi Mi 6 fits in the premium category as a result of its specs, its affordable price pits it against the likes of Galaxy J7 Prime which costs $349.99.

Today we’re going to briefly compare Xiaomi Mi 6 against Samsung’s Galaxy J7 Prime and see if their price is the only feature that puts them in the same category. In addition, this way we will see if the Chinese tech manufacturer has managed to create a smartphone that’s worthy of carrying the flagship title.


Xiaomi Mi 6 ships with a 5.15 inch IPS LCD display that covers 71.4 percent of its front side. When it comes to picture quality, the display offers a full HD pixel resolution of 1080 x 1920 and a pixel density of 428 ppi. On the other hand we have Samsung’s Galaxy J7 Prime that’s been fitted with a slightly larger 5.5 inch PLS TFT panel. The panel covers 73.3 percent of the smartphone’s front surface and it also offers a full HD pixel resolution and 401 ppi.

Hardware Internals

Leaving the display aside, hardware performance is what truly sets high-end smartphones apart from mediocre ones. Let’s pop open Mi 6 and Galaxy J7 Prime’s hoods and see what they have to offer. First off, Mi 6 impresses us with its Qualcomm octa-core Snapdragon 835 CPU that’s been clocked at 2.45GHz. In addition, Mi 6’s CPU is paired with an Adreno 540 GPU and 6GB of RAM.

Galaxy J7 Prime is powered by Samsung’s own made octa-core Exynos 7870 chipset. The chipset clocks at 1.6GHz and it is coupled with a Mali-T830 MP2 GPU and only 3GB of RAM. As we all can see, Xiaomi Mi 6’s hardware power blows Galaxy J7 Prime out of the water. Mi 6 is definitely the clear winner in this brief hardware comparison.
