Will Windows 10 Mobile Have A Future Without The Lumia Smartphones?
We all know that Microsoft is not focusing much on Windows phones, and the company has confirmed this at the Build 2016 event that was held last week, in San Francisco, CA. Microsoft said that there are other projects which needs its attention in the next 12 months.
However, the American multinational technology company headquartered in Redmond, Washington, has promised that it will bring some awesome things to smartphones in the upcoming year. This means that despite that the company will stop focusing on the Windows 10 Mobile OS in the upcoming months, the developers will still make some time for this operating system in 2017.
According to reports, Microsoft will release three different Surface smartphones in early 2017. It seems that the company is trying to aim different customers and come with three smartphones that will have different specifications.
We remind you that the Lumia series has been inherited by Microsoft from Nokia and even if the Redmond Company has released new models running on Windows 10 Mobile, it used the same design language on these latest devices.
One thing is for sure: you can’t mistake a Lumia smartphone with any other smartphone and that’s not good. The Lumia 650 smartphone that has been released in February 2016, is referred as one of the most best looking Lumia smartphones out there, but that’s because the device is not looking as a “typical” Lumia device, as it features a metal frame and it comes with a premium look, even if it doesn’t have some high-end specifications.
It seems that Microsoft is slowly starting to leave the Lumia brand behind and we’re not sure if they are making a good move. However, we’ll see how the three new Surface smartphones will look like and what specifications will come with. However, the price will play a big role on how successful these three devices will be and Microsoft will need to be careful on these things.
