OnePlus 5 Specs Unveiled by the Chinese Media

The Chinese manufacturer has managed to establish its brand as a household name with its OnePlus 3 and 3T flagship smartphones. Both of them have been dubbed as the “flagship killers” because they offer impressive hardware performances for affordable prices. With that being said, it’s pretty clear why everyone is looking forward to their successor. Even though the upcoming smartphone is expected to be named as OnePlus 4, it will actually be named OnePlus 5 according to rumors.

OnePlus 5

The reason why many believe OnePlus is going to skip the number 4 is because it represents bad in luck in China. In addition, OnePlus 3T is considered as being the fourth OnePlus offering. Nonetheless, the name doesn’t matter as much as its specs. Chinese media outlets are reporting that they have already managed to get their hands on the smartphone’s entire specs sheet. While this might be great, we need to mention that OnePlus has yet to confirm anything. We will present them anyways so that we can at least get an idea of what to expect.

Samsung recently unveiled Galaxy S8 and the entire tech world has been talking about it and its Infinity display. OnePlus 5 is expected to ship with a similar edge-to-edge panel which will give the smartphone a more premium look and feel. The display will come in a size of 5.5 inch and it will feature a high resolution of 2K. In addition, the flagship smartphone will not sport a physical home button and it will feature a rear side fingerprint sensor instead.

Now onto the device’s said specs, OnePlus 5 is reportedly going to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset which will be accompanied by the whopping amount of 8GB RAM. If this proves to be true, OnePlus 5 will be one of the most powerful smartphones ever made. We should mention that even though 8GB RAM might sound like a huge amount, it’s very likely to be true since OnePlus 3T’s processor was coupled with 6GB RAM. Last but not least, reports are pointing towards the fact that OnePlus 5 will be fueled by a 3,000 mAh battery.
