Nexus 6P Will Not be Going Away Anytime Soon
Nexus 6P is one of the most talked about devices in the Android community. In fact, Nexus 6P is regarded as being a developer favorite since it uses Google’s open source operating system. Regarding OS, Nexus 6P owners who are enlisted in the Android Beta Program have recently received the developer preview of Android 8.0. This is quite good news for Nexus 6P owners since everyone believes that Google wants to completely get rid of the smartphone.
Pixel 2 to Replace Nexus 6P
The reason why everyone believes Google is looking to break its ties with Nexus 6P is because Pixel 2 is on its way. The upcoming smartphone is going to hold the title of being Google’s flagship smartphone and the Android parent is going to put all of its focus on it. However, Google just proved the otherwise when it rolled out the developer preview of Android 8.0 to Nexus 6P.
Another rumor that’s leading the Nexus community to believe that Nexus 6P is getting closer to its last days is because Google is reportedly developing a more affordable Pixel 2 variant. The affordable smartphone is said to be named as Pixel 2B and that it will arrive under the Taimen codename. If this proves to be true, it means that Google is looking to capitalize on mid-ranged budget customers that might purchase a Nexus 6P smartphone otherwise.
Operating System Updates
Google has officially parted ways with Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 in terms of operating system updates. On the other hand, Nexus 6P is an entirely different story. Nexus 6P currently runs on Google’s latest operating system which is Android 7.1.2 Nougat. In fact, Google’s latest operating system includes one neat little feature that enhances Nexus 6P’s user experience. The feature we are talking about is fingerprint gestures support and it has also arrived to Nexus 5X.
From the looks of it, Nexus 6P is still set to receive updates for the years to come. Considering the fact that Nexus 6P is highly popular in the Android community, Google is not going to let go of it any time soon.
