Nexus 6 Has a Bright Future Ahead
As many might already know, things are always changing in the smartphone industry and this includes operating systems as well. Google always does its best in order to pack its operating systems with creative features and performance enhancements but this is never enough. This is why Google releases a new operating system every year. In fact, Google is actually already working on Android 7.0 Nougat’s successor right.
The first rumors which started showing that Google is working on Android 8.0 appeared a couple of months ago, but Google decided to confirm those rumors by releasing the developer preview of Android 8.0. The factory images can be found right now on Google’s official Android Developer website, but we do not advise normal Android fans to download it since its still in beta phase.
The most intriguing thing about Google’s Android 8.0 is the fact that it seems like Nexus 6 can download the beta operating system as well. This is quite surprising since Google recently announced that it will stop supporting Nexus 6. However, many believe that Google is just testing Android 8.0 to see if it’s compatible with Nexus 6 in order to be able to roll out this year’s monthly security patches. Therefore, we need to tell Nexus 6 owners to not get their hopes up.
We should mention the fact that Nexus 6 was in fact supposedly to stop receiving software support last year, but Google decided to still make it eligible to download Android 7.1.1 Nougat. This was seen as a parting gift from Google, but now it looks like Google is not done with Nexus 6 yet.
Nexus 6 first saw the light of day back in November of 2014, thus its hardware parts are kind of outdated. However, Nexus 6 is still selling well despite its age. Right now we are going to take a look at what Nexus 6 has to offer in terms of hardware power in order to refresh our memories.
The Motorola-made smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 805 CPU. The processor has been clocked at 2.7GHz Krait 450 and it is coupled with an Adreno 420 GPU and 3GB of RAM.
