Nexus 5X vs iPad Pro 9.7 inch – An Unexpected Rivalry

Nexus 5X boasts with one of the biggest fan-bases in the smartphone community. The reason why Nexus 5X has managed to gather such a large following is because Google is the company that’s directly in charge of it while LG has made sure that its equipped with the best hardware parts. The smartphone is popular that many people believe it as being capable of replacing tablets as a result of its rather large 5.2 inch display.

With that being said, we can’t stop ourselves from comparing Nexus 5X with one of the most powerful tablets ever made, iPad Pro. Last year Apple has introduced the iPad Pro lineup and customers have been left in awe. Apple’s device obviously runs on iOS and it’s known for being so powerful that it can easily replace laptops.

Display

Nexus 5X ships with a 5.2 inch IPS LCD panel that’s considerably large in comparison with normal smartphones. This is why Nexus 5X is able of completing tasks similar to what tablets do. Nexus 5X’s display features a full HD (1080 x 1920) pixel resolution and a pixel density of 423.

On the other hand, we have Apple’s iPad Pro that’s been fitted with a 9.7 inch display on the entry-level size model. The display uses LED-Backlit IPS LCD and TrueTone technology that’s capable of offering a high pixel resolution of 1536 x 2048 and a pixel density of 264.

Hardware Power

Google’s smartphone impresses us with its Qualcomm hexa-core Snapdragon 808 CPU. The processor has been clocked at 1.8GHz Cortex-A57 and it is also fitted with an Adreno 418 graphics processing unit alongside 2GB of RAM.

As previously advertised, iPad Pro is rather powerful. The tablet is fueled by the Apple made A9X dual-core processor which runs at a boosted speed of 2.16GHz Twister. To make things even better, iPad Pro also uses a PowerVR Series 7 (12-core) graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

Final Words

As it was expected, iPad Pro completely overshadows Nexus 5X’s hardware performances. However, Nexus 5X surprisingly comes with the same amount of RAM as iPad Pro but this doesn’t mean it’s on the same level. All in all, Nexus 5X is a high end smartphone but it’s not quite up on par with Apple’s tablet.

  1. The Nexus 5X seems like a promising product, but I don’t think it’s fair to compare it to a full size tablet like the iPad. I don’t think the Nexus will be replacing tablets, and obviously an iPad will never have the full functionality of an Android phone.
