LG G6 Receives Minor Patch from T-Mobile Ahead of Launch Date
While the South Korean tech manufacturer is getting ready to officially launch its highly anticipated LG G6, T-Mobile has already started rolling out a software update to it. According to user reports, T-Mobile started pushing an OTA (over the air) operating system update that weighs in at 124MB and it arrives under the “H87210e” build number. Sadly, T-Mobile hasn’t announced what the update brings or what it does.
The smartphone is slated to launch on April 7th and it will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, including Google’s March security bulletin. Everyone believed that the aforementioned update includes April’s security patch, but LG G6 owners that have received the update have confirmed that there is no security patch. The main theory is that T-Mobile’s update is actually focused on performance improvements and it only brings small tweaks and bug fixes.
As previously mentioned, the update is being rolled out OTA, but anxious LG G6 owners can always try and download it manually by accessing the About Phone – Update Center – Check for Update panel. This way, the update is going to be triggered and it will arrive shortly.
The smartphone was recently unveiled during the MWC conference and it’s considered as being LG’s flagship smartphone. LG G6 has been fitted with a 5.7 inch IPS LCD panel which offers a high pixel resolution of 1440 x 2880 and a pixel density of 564 ppi. In addition, LG has coated the display in Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and made it water resistant up to 1 meter and 30 minutes.
In terms of hardware power, LG G6 impresses with its quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset. The processor features two cores that clock at 2.35GHz and other two ones that have been clocked at 1.6GHz. Even better, LG has coupled Qualcomm’s processor with 4GB of RAM and an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit.
When it comes to storage space, LG G6 can be acquired in the 32GB and 64GB models. Even better, LG G6’s on-board memory can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. In addition, the 64GB LG G6 variant features a dual SIM port.
