Huawei Mate 9 with Android 8.0 Update Comes with More Features than Nexus 6
It looks like Huawei has managed to be among the first ones to get their hands on Android 8.0. Considering the fact that Google has worked with Huawei in the past it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the Android parent decided to supply the Chinese manufacturer with the source code for Android 8.0 ahead of schedule. Reports are showing that Mate 9 is the smartphone that’s going to receive a new EMUI which is compatible with Android 8.0.
Mate 9 with Android 8.0
According to reports, Huawei has already started working on Android 8.0 in order to make it compatible with Mate 9. However, the operating system is still far away from being rolled out to the wide public. Members of the XDA Developers Forum have managed to find out that Huawei’s Android 8.0 is missing key elements such as language support and it is limited to Mandarin and English.
We should also mention the fact that Android 8.0 doesn’t feature Huawei’s specific eRecovery and System Update app. These two apps are essential to the Huawei smartphone experience but we can be sure they will be added once the Android 8.0 comes out of testing. Last but not least, we need to let readers know that the Mate 9 on which Huawei is testing Android 8.0 features the MHA-AL00C00B007-log model code.
The aforementioned model code leads us to believe that Huawei is either creating a special edition of Mate 9 or that its simply using a refurbished model. The latter option seems more plausible since Huawei has not shown any interested into launching another Mate 9.
We can be sure that other smartphone manufacturers are highly enthusiastic to get their hands on Google’s latest operating system source code. The reason we are saying this is because Android 8.0 is said to be packed with innovative features which will make Android smartphones so much more desirable.
Huawei Mate 9’s testing pictures are showing that Android 8.0 will be equipped with the highly rumored picture-in-picture mode. This feature is going to take multi-tasking functionalities to another level since for example it will allow users to write a document while they watch a YouTube video at the same time.
