HTC U Ultra is Set to Receive Incremental Software Update

HTC used to be one of the biggest smartphone manufacturers in the world. The company lost its popularity along the years and now it’s doing its best in order to establish its brand as household name once again. The way in which HTC wants to achieve its goal is by launching high-end smartphones. In fact, HTC recently introduced its U Ultra flagship in the US market. Even better, the smartphone is scheduled to receive its biggest software update since it has been released.

HTC U Ultra Major Update

The news came from straight from HTC’s VP of Product Management, Mo Versi. The VP went on Twitter and announced that HTC U Ultra owners should be happy to know that they will receive a major software update. Regarding the update, Mo Versi stated the following “the update will improve experience with bug fixes and additional features on the second screen”. The second screen feature Mo Versi is talking about will allow users to control what apps they want to see on the device’s ticker display.

Reports are showing that European residents have already started receiving the update through OTA (over the air) channels. However, we can be sure that North American residents are also going to receive the update during the not so far away future. In addition, the update is pretty big in size weighing in at 633MB.

Hardware Specs

As previously mentioned, HTC’s main goal is to create high-end smartphones and that’s why HTC U Ultra is packed with premium hardware parts. Right now we’re going to take a look at what HTC U Ultra has to offer and see if HTC is going to be able to retake its title as one of the biggest smartphone manufacturers.

The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 821 processor. The processor features two cores that clock at 2.15GHz Kyro and other two slower ones that clock at 1.6GHz Kyro. In addition, HTC Has also coupled the device’s processor with an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit and 4GB of RAM. In terms of storage space, HTC U Ultra can be acquired in the 64GB and 128GB storage variants. However, the storage space can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD.
