HTC U Official Launch Date has been Confirmed
After a long time of waiting, HTC has finally announced HTC U’s official launch date. Rumors were pointing out that HTC U will drop somewhere around May, and those rumors have been proven to be true since HTC itself has announced that its upcoming smartphone will be unveiled on May 16th. Things get even better, the Taiwanese tech giant has also launched an invitation in form of an image which contained the following caption “Squeeze for the Brilliant”, a blurred image of HTC U and the exact time when the smartphone will come out in different regions of the world.

We don’t exactly know why HTC has chosen the aforementioned caption to be used in HTC U’s marketing campaign, but it does make it sound like the upcoming smartphone is something special. Nonetheless, HTC U is expected to be a smaller edition of the highly popular HTC U Ultra. However, this means that the new smartphone will not feature the same innovative secondary display as U Ultra.
Even though HTC has made sure to blur out the smartphone in its picture invitation, leaks surrounding HTC U have been popping up everywhere these past few weeks. The smartphone will feature a sleek design that’s going to be built from glass and metal. In addition, HTC U will also feature a fingerprint sensor and a physical home button which will be accompanied by two capacitive keys.
HTC U is expected to ship with a rather large 5.5 inch WQHD display. To make things better, HTC will also coat the smartphone’s display in Corning Gorilla Glass 5 which will improve its crack and scratch resistance. We don’t know the exact resolution that HTC U will offer, but we can be more than sure that it’s going to at least be full HD (1080 x 1920).
In terms of hardware power, HTC has chosen Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 CPU. That’s not all, the CPU will be coupled with an Adreno 540 GPU and 4GB or 6GB of RAM, depending on the acquired model. Finally, HTC U will be available in the 64GB and 128GB storage space variants.
