These past few years, online retailers such as eBay and Amazon have become the biggest smartphone sellers in the world. The aforementioned retailers feature the best selling platforms which make online transactions so much smoother. The best thing about purchasing smartphones from either eBay or Amazon is the fact that customers will never be forced to meet with the seller.

However, this can backfire sometimes. For example, a XDA Forum member recently posted a thread in which he pointed out the fact that he purchased a Nexus 6 from eBay, and when it arrived he found that it was account locked.

Account Locked Smartphones

Every Android smartphone now features the option to lock it by account. This security measure has been implemented by Google and while this might be great, it also means that Google will remove it. This means that customers who have purchased account locked smartphones will basically own a useless device. On the bright side though, there is a way of getting around Google’s security.

Factory Reset

The best option that unlucky customers have is to perform a complete factory reset on the smartphone. This will wipe off the device’s entire memory, including the cache partition. In order to perform a factory reset, users will be required to hold down the Power button and to tap on the Volume Up key. After that, using the same keys simply select the “wipe data / factory reset” option. All that’s left now is to confirm the process and wait for the smartphone to boot up.

Nexus 6

The reason why a smartphone as old as Nexus 6 keeps on selling is because it brings stable hardware performances for a rather affordable price. Right now, we’re going to take a look under the smartphone’s hood in order to refresh our memories.

Nexus 6 is powered by Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 805 CPU. This processor clocks at 2.7GHz and it is the main reason why Nexus 6 keeps on surviving despite its age. We need to add that Nexus 6’s processor has also been paired with an Adreno 420 GPU and 3GB of RAM.
