Google Nexus 5X vs Sony Xperia XZ – Which One Takes the Prize?
Nexus 5X first saw the light of day back in 2015 and despite its age, it’s still selling rather well. Even though Google is the company that’s directly managing Nexus 5X, the smartphone was created in collaboration with LG. The South Korean tech manufacturer has done its best in order to equip Nexus 5X with premium hardware parts and that’s why it keeps selling to this day.
While Nexus 5X might be an all-round great smartphone, we cannot keep ourselves from wondering about how well it can stand against other top dogs from the smartphone industry such as Sony Xperia ZX. It looks like Sony is on a quest of becoming one of the best smartphone manufacturers in the world and that’s why it keeps putting out only high-end smartphones. Nonetheless, let’s see what Nexus 5X and Xperia XZ have to offer.
LG has equipped Nexus 5X with a 5.20 inch display that’s able of offering a full HD resolution (1080 x 1920. We should also mention that Nexus 5X’s display uses IPS LCD technology and that it has been coated in Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and oleophobic coating.
On the other hand we have Xperia XZ that’s been fitted with a similarly size 5.20 inch IPS LCD display. Considering the fact that Xperia XZ uses the same technology and screen size as Nexus 5X, it’s also capable of offering the same pixel resolution. Also, Xperia XZ has been coated in Corning Gorilla Glass but we don’t know which version.
Qualcomm is the tech manufacturer which produces the processors for these two smartphones. However, the brand name might be the same but the power isn’t. Without any further ado let’s pop up their hoods and see what lies beneath.
Nexus 5X is fueled by Qualcomm’s hexa-core Snapdragon 808 CPU. The processor runs at a speed of 1.8GHz and it is coupled with an Adreno 418GPU and 2GB RAM. Xperia XZ uses Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 820 CPU which has been clocked at 2.15GHz. In addition, Xperia XZ’s processor has been paired with an Adreno 530 GPU and 3GB of RAM. From the looks of it, Sony’s smartphone has the upper hand in this comparison.
