Google Git Hints at Google Nexus 6 Getting Android O
However, Google did state the Android Nougat version 7.1.1 will be the last major operating system update that the Nexus 6 would receive. But now, it seems that the smartphone’s users have new reason to be happy. Keep reading to find out what that is.
Android O Coming to Nexus 6
The wondrous world of Internet leaks has produced a new tidbit of information that is particularly juicy, especially considering Google’s latest statements regarding the Nexus 6. A Google Git that contained some information has been found, and boy did it take everyone by surprise! According to said Google Git document, the Nexus 6 will run on Android O once the new and mysterious OS is launched at a later, unannounced date.
As per official Android news, it seemed that Android O will only be received by Nexus 5X and 6P, as well as Pixel XL and Pixel smartphones, at least as far as Google’s device line is concerned. However, this git might indicate that the Nexus 6 will also get the new OS.
However, Google has been known to test new Android versions on older devices as well in order to determine compatibility levels, so this particular document might indicate only that. Therefore, if you own a Nexus 6, we recommend you don’t get too excited over this leak, and take this information with a grain of salt to avoid future disappointment.
