OnePlus One smartphone will launch on April 24, comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor
OnePlus, the Chinese start-up by Pete Lau, a former Oppo executive has finally released the specifications and the launch date for its very first smartphone which will be called the OnePlus One.
The OnePlus One is expected to launch on April 24 as revealed in a recent forum post. The hardware on the device looks quite impressive and is sure to blow your mind.
This device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor which has been clocked at 2.5GHz and it will be coupled with a 3GB RAM which is similar to what we have seen on the Sony Xperia Z2 and the Oppo Find 7.
The most interesting bit about this smartphone is that CyanogenMod will be developing the operating system for this device. OnePlus has already teamed up with CyanogenMod for the smartphone’s OS back in January 2014. It will be running CyanogenMod’s custom version of Android and one can expect a two years of support from CyanogenMod just incase something does not seem right with your device on the software front.
The OnePlus One sports a 5.5-inch 1080p resolution display and it will come in two storage variants which include 16GB and a 64GB versions. The device will come equipped with a 3,100mAh non-removable battery.
It further includes a 13 megapixel rear camera with the Sony Exmor IMX214 6 lens. OnePlus claims that they have developed an enhanced OIS module which could reduce noise and shakiness from your photos. One will be capable of recording videos at 4K resolution and it features 720p resolution slow-motion video recording at 120fps. It has a 5 megapixel secondary camera on the front.
The One smartphone comes with swappable back overs which the company calls StyleSwap. These will come in different textures which include – Silk, Sandstone, Denim, Bamboo and Kevlar.
The smartphone is said to support eMMC 5.0 standard which allow users to copy, move, edit, open and save content a lot quicker. It will operate only on GSM networks and feature LTE support.
