Windows 10 Mobile Will Not Be Released On All Lumia Devices

Windows 10 Lumia

It seems that Microsoft is not keeping its word regarding the Windows Phone upgrade. The American multinational technology company headquartered in Redmond, Washington, said in the past that all Lumia devices that run on Windows 8 will be upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile OS.

Well, it seems that Microsoft has already stared rolling out the Windows 10 Mobile to existing Lumia devices last week, but it also revealed that the handsets such as Lumia 1020 and Lumia 920 will not receive its latest mobile operating system and instead they will be stuck with Windows Phone 8.

Microsoft has also given a list of devices that are supposed to be upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile OS: Lumia 735, Lumia 1520, Lumia 640XL, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 430, Lumia 636 1GB, Lumia 640, Lumia 540, Lumia 435, Lumia 635 1GB, Lumia 638 1GB, Lumia 830, Lumia 730 and Lumia 930.

When Microsoft has firstly announced this list, we were quite surprised, as there are a few Lumia phones that are quite old and their specifications are outdated and can’t support the new Windows 10 Mobile OS.

Microsoft also said that the Lumia Icon might still get upgraded, but there will not be a second wave of Windows 10 Mobile upgrades for other devices. With other words, the BLU Win JR LTE device will also be stuck with Windows Phone 8 OS. Last week, Microsoft has silently updated its Store page and removed a reference which mentioned that the BLU Win JR LTE will be “upgradable to Windows 10 when available”.

By doing this, Microsoft has disappointed many owners of Lumia 1020 and Lumia 920 devices, but we’re that the American multinational technology company has made the right move. After all, it is better to have a device that runs smoothly on Windows Phone 8, than to have one with lags while running on Windows 10 Mobile OS.
