Windows 10 Mobile Is Rolling Out To A Number Of Lumia Smartphones
According to a report, a source who knows Microsoft’s plans, Windows 10 was supposed to roll out today on several selected Lumia devices, on which the new software has been tested in the past weeks. The users will need to initiate the update manually, as they won’t receive any OTA notification. Then, as the report claims, “A Microsoft-triggered push model will follow at an undisclosed date”.
The list of Lumia devices that are eligible to be upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile are: 430, 435, 532, 535, 540, 635 (1 GB RAM), 640, 640 XL, 735, 830 and 930 and if the rumors are true, then the update should start rolling out today.
But, its availability depends from a carrier to another, because not all of them are pushing it out at the same time. They need to test out the latest Windows 10 Mobile in order to make sure that there are no bugs and serious issues that could affect the performance of the software, on the aforementioned devices.
As we were saying in the intro, the update won’t come via the air, but luckily, Microsoft has created a special upgrade advisor application which will inform the users when the Windows 10 Mobile update will be available for their devices, so they can download it from the Windows Store.
Windows 10 Mobile brings many new features, as they are already enjoyed by those who bought the Lumia 950 or 950 XL smartphones that have been released last fall. Microsoft has improved Outlook, Office and Cortana, over the Windows Phone 8.1, and introduced universal applications, which allow applications that have been created for Windows 10 PC to be ported to Windows 10 Mobile devices (phones and tablets).
Also, with the help of Continuum, the users will be able to connect their smartphones to a physical keyboard and mouse and transform them into mini PCs. The virtual keyboard has been improved as well, and the Lumia Camera app has become the default camera app on all phones running on Windows 10 Mobile.
