Microsoft is preparing to release the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade for some Windows Phone devices. The update will most likely happen sometime before the end of the week, but there is no confirmation when it will take place.

According to Microsoft, the Windows 10 Mobile will be released to *ALL* Windows Phone devices, regardless of the hardware specifications. However, there are reports which say that in the case of devices that support only 512MB of RAM, some of the Windows 10 Mobile features will be limited.

The Windows 10 Mobile will be released in stages, and if the rumors will prove to be right, the Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 930 and Lumia 1520 will be the devices that will receive the Windows 10 Mobile OS in the first wave. There are also reports which say that the Lumia 830 model might be also included in the first wave.

Unfortunately, there is no confirmation from Microsoft that the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade process will start this week. However, the American multinational technology company headquartered in Redmond, Washington, has confirmed that the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade will happen in “early 2016”, which means that there are high chances that March will be the month when we will finally see the new operating system released for older Lumia devices.

We remind you that, previously, Microsoft has also missed a few targets, as Windows 10 Mobile was supposed to be released in December 2015. Back then, the deadline was postponed to January 2016 and then pushed once again to February 2016. However, these release dates have never been confirmed by Microsoft, as most of them were just rumors.

Do you think that the Windows 10 Mobile OS will be released for older Lumia devices before the end of March 2016 or Microsoft will disappoint its users once again?

  1. “Unfortunately, there is no confirmation from Microsoft that the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade process will start this week.”

Well if that’s the case, then the first wave isn’t actually available, now is it?

  2. Glad to hear that the 1520 is back in the running. I still consider it the flagship of the Lumia line. Time for Microsoft to come out with something that will blow it away. 950? Not quite.
