Samsung Galaxy S7 vs. Apple iPhone 6S – Two Giants Fighting For The Crown

Samsung Galaxy S7 vs. Apple iPhone 6S

Samsung is preparing to ship out its latest Galaxy S7 device globally, while the iPhone 6s has been on the market for five months and it’s still one of the top choices when buying a new phone. Here’s a detailed comparison between these flagships’ specs and features, which will help you decide which phone is the right one for you.

Designs

Likewise its predecessor, the Galaxy S7 was released with a glass back that gives it a premium look, and it’s much better than the plastic shell with perforated dots that was introduced on the Galaxy S5. The dimensions of the new model are 142.4×69.6×7.9mm, resulting in a total weight of 152 grams, with nine grams more than the weight of the iPhone 6s, which has an aluminum body with antenna lines on the back, and which measures 138.3×67.1×7.1mm.

Displays

While the Galaxy S7 sports a larger Super AMOLED display of 5.1-inch with a QHD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels at 577 ppi, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, the iPhone 6s has a smaller IPS LCD display of 4.7-inch with a resolution of 1334×750 pixels that gives a pixel density of 326 ppi, and it’s protected by an ion-strengthened glass.

Processors, Graphics Cards and RAM

The Galaxy S7 comes in two variants with the following configurations:

– an Exynos 8890 Octa chipset supporting an octa-core CPU formed from a quad-core Mongoose CPU clocked at 2.3GHz and a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1.6GHz + a Mali-T880 MP12 graphics card and 4GB of RAM;
– a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 chipset with a quad-core CPU formed from a dual-core Kryo CPU clocked at 2.15GHz and a dual-core Kryo CPU clocked at 1.6GHz + an Adreno 530 graphics card and 4GB of RAM.

The iPhone 6s features an Apple A9 chipset, a dual-core Twister CPU clocked at 1.84GHz, a PowerVR GT7600 graphics card and only 2GB of RAM.

Storages

You can choose one of the two variants of internal memories of 32GB or 64GB, but the Galaxy S7 offers a microSD card slot for expansion up to 200GB.

The good news is that the iPhone 6s comes in three internal storage variants of 16GB, 64GB and 128GB, but unfortunately, they’re unexpandable, so you’ll need to think twice about how much space you need.

Cameras

The Galaxy S7 sports a primary camera of 12MP with features such as autofocus, OIS, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, auto-HDR and a secondary camera of 5MP. The iPhone 6s has a rear camera with the same resolution and its features include dual-LED flash, autofocus, geo-tagging, HDR, panorama, face detection and the secondary camera is also 5MP.

Batteries

Both devices come with non-removable battery, but the one found on the Galaxy S7 has 3000 mAh and it is way more powerful than the 1715 mAh battery of the iPhone 6s.
