Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ vs. Galaxy S7 Edge – Quick Specs Comparison
Samsung is releasing its new Galaxy S7 Edge worldwide by the end of this month and if you’re undecided whether to buy it or not, then it’s important to learn more about the changes that Samsung has made to this model. We’ll compare this phablet with the Galaxy S6 Edge+, which was released back in August 2015.
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ measures 154.4×75.8×6.9mm and weights 153 grams. On the other hand, the Galaxy S7 Edge measures 150.9×72.6×7.7mm and weights 157 grams. The back covers of these two devices are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and they have metal frames that run across the curved screen. Also, both of them have a fingerprint scanner located under the screen.
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ has a super AMOLED display of 5.7-inch that supports a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels at 518 ppi and it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The Galaxy S7 Edge comes with a smaller super AMOLED display of 5.5-inch with the same resolution, but which gives a higher pixel density of 534 ppi and it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, as well.
Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ features an Exynos 7420 Octa chipset that houses an octa-core processor formed from a quad-core Cortex A53 processor clocked at 1.5GHz and a Cortex A57 processor clocked at 2.1GHz, a Mali-T760MP8 graphics card and 4GB of RAM. The Galaxy S7 Edge+ comes in two variants of chipsets, processors and graphics cards as follows:
– Chipset: Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 Octa;
– Processor: Dual-core 2.15 GHz Kryo and dual-core 1.6 GHz Kryo or Quad-core 2.6 GHz Mongoose and quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A53;
– Graphics Card: Adreno 530 or Mali-T880 MP12.
Both Galaxy S7 Edge variants support 4GB of RAM.
Both handsets have been released in two internal storage variants of 32GB and 64GB. However, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ doesn’t feature a microSD card slot, but the Galaxy S7 Edge has one, which allows you to insert a microSD card in order to increase the storage capacity up to 200GB.
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ sports a primary camera of 16MP (found on the rear side of the handset) that offers OIS, autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, auto-HDR, panorama and a secondary camera of 5MP (found on the front side of the device). The Galaxy S7 Edge has a primary camera of only 12MP with OIS, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, auto-HDR, panorama, face detection and the secondary camera is 5MP.
Both devices come with non-removable batteries, but the Galaxy S6 Edge+ has a smaller one with a capacity of 3000 mAh, while the Galaxy S7 Edge houses a much bigger battery of 3600 mAh, which will help the device last a lot longer.
