The Chinese manufacturer always makes sure that its clients are happy and that’s why OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T have recently received Android 7.1.1 Nougat. What’s surprising is that while all of this was happening, Nexus 6 that’s directly managed by Google itself has received a downgrade back to Android 7.0 Nougat. It doesn’t really makes sense that OnePlus is rolling out Android 7.1.1 Nougat while Google is downgrading Nexus 6P but there’s actually a good reason behind this. We’ll go over it right now.

Nexus 6 is Downgraded Back to Android 7.0 Nougat

The smartphone has received Android 7.1.1 Nougat a while ago and it all worked fine until the Android parent decided to start rolling out March’s security bulletin. This is when things started to look bad for Nexus 6. Instead of enhancing the smartphone’s security, the security patch actually meddled with the device’s Android Pay feature and disabled it. Google was then forced to downgrade Nexus 6’s operating system so that Android Pay can function. Although this is quite annoying for Nexus 6 owners, Google has guaranteed that Nexus 6’s operating system will be brought back to Android 7.1.1 Nougat in the not so faraway future.

OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T Receive Android 7.1.1 Nougat

As previously mentioned, the Chinese manufacturer is known for putting a high price on customer feedback. OnePlus has promised its fan base a while ago that Android 7.1.1 will be coming and it looks it kept true to its word. Therefore, OnePlus 3 and 3T have received OxygenOS 4.1 that’s been built around Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

The update is being rolled out OTA (over the air) and it should arrive any moment now. Although, OnePlus is rolling out this major operating system update to only 10,000 randomly selected devices each day. That’s why not all OnePlus 3 and 3T owners will receive the update at the same time. Nonetheless, we advise OnePlus 3 and 3T owners to keep their eyes peeled at their notification panel because OxygenOS 4.1 should pop-up anytime now. This update can be considered as being quite important since it completely enhances the way both smartphones function.
