iBall launches tablet for students, priced at Rs.12,999
iBall has launched a new tablet called named Edu-Slide i-1017 to challenge the competitive Indian market. Priced at Rs. 12,999; this tablet is focused towards the needs of students, particularly in school.
iBall Edu-Slide sports a 10.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. This device is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor with G400 GPU and 1 GB of RAM. The device is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and is packed with 8 GB of internal storage which also can be expanded with a microSD card. It is also equipped with a 2-megapixel camera along with a front-facing VGA camera.
The specifications look pretty neat as far as running educational apps is concerned. It might lag a bit you try to run High-Definition (HD) apps with the weak RAM. This device also comes with pre-loaded educational applications to help students start using it just out of the box. It consists of educational syllabus from Std. I to XII for CBSE as well as SSC boards for students from English medium. It also offers Marathi medium SSC board syllabus from Std V to X.
Only syllabus content for one standard will be available at the purchase of the device. However, buying the tablet before 15th April, 2013 will let you download syllabus content for another standard for free of cost.
It is high time for Indian government to launch its Aakash Tablet as this tablet would be hardly affordable for students from tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
