Huawei P9 Plus is Affected by Major Security Exploit
We have some bad news for Huawei P9 Plus smartphone owners. Many might not know that smartphones ship with a special vibrator function. Well, Huawei decided to make its smartphone more special by adding a handful of tweaks to this function. Sadly, these tweaks are not going as well as intended and they feature one major exploit. The 360 Vulpecker team has published a report that showed hackers can forcefully get access P9 Plus through its vibrator function.
Huawei P9 Plus Major Security Exploit
According to 360 Vulpecker, the smartphone in cause features a “Denial of Service” vulnerability. Hackers can develop malware apps that are able of rendering the smartphone useless through the use of this exploit. On the bright side, the news has reached Huawei’s ears and the Chinese tech giant quickly released an OTA (over the air) software fix.
Huawei Rolls Out Security Update
The Chinese tech manufacturer has included a fix for this security vulnerability in the B386 update. The patch has started rolling out for a couple of days and it’s being rolled out systematically. This means that only a bunch of P9 Plus smartphones will receive the patch each day. Therefore, we advise P9 Plus owners to keep their eyes peeled at the notifications panel because the security patch should arrive any moment now.
Another method in which P9 Plus owners can make sure that their smartphone is not being affected is to be careful of what apps they download. This way, they can avoid annoying ransomware that causes their smartphone to enter in a frozen state. Nonetheless, we have to give props to Huawei for moving so fast, especially since this is a pressing matter.
Once the smartphone has been updated, P9 Plus owners shouldn’t have a reason to worry anymore. We think it’s safe to say that Huawei is going to make sure that there won’t be any other security exploits in the upcoming future. Huawei has been trying to make a name for itself in the smartphone industry for a while now and this is what drives Huawei to be the best. Therefore we can safely say that no other exploits will slip through the cracks.
