Google Nexus 7 May Come with VR Capabilities

The Android parent was expected to refresh its Nexus 7 offering last year but sadly this didn’t happen. Even though Google postponed Nexus 7’s launch date, the entire Android community is still anxious to get a chance to get their hands on the highly anticipated tablet. The device is now expected to arrive in late 2017 alongside the Pixel 2 smartphone.

Google has yet to confirm the tablet’s existence but fortunately for us, the internet is filled with rumors and speculations about the tablet’s features and hardware. We have rounded up the most reoccurring and liable ones and we’re going to present them right now.

Google Nexus 7: VR Ready

Taking in consideration the fact that the VR market is booming as of late, Google is surely going to want to capitalize on that. Rumor has it that the Android parent wants to make Nexus 7 VR ready. While this seems highly plausible, there are some issues that need to be addressed. First off, this is a tablet and it will definitely not feature the necessary hardware specs to be able to run VR content as a PC does. This leaves Google with only one option, to allow Nexus 7 owners to connect to the company’s Daydream VR headset.

There is only one problem left though, the tablet is too big for Google’s VR headset. This is why everyone believes that Google is actually working on creating a larger VR headset that’s going to fit Nexus 7. This might actually be one of the reasons why Nexus 7’s date has been postponed.

Google Nexus 7: Specs

Google is expected to equip the device with only the best hardware pieces available on the market. Therefore, Nexus 7 will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset. The processor will give Nexus 7 the ability to provide owners with impressive hardware performances even under heavy usage.

Additionally, the processor might be paired with 16GB of RAM if Google decides to create a premium variant of it. Nonetheless, we can be sure that once Nexus 7 is launched Google will generate huge amounts of profits as a result of the device’s high popularity among the Android community.
