Google Nexus 7 (2017) will be Manufactured by HTC and Comes with Android 8.0 O
The entire world was expecting Google to refresh its tablet offering during 2016. Obviously this didn’t happen but the Android community hasn’t lost hope. In fact, rumors and speculations surrounding Nexus 7 (2017) have started sparking once again ever since Google released three product codenames. Two of the aforementioned codenames represent Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL while the third one is expected to be Nexus 7 (2017) undercover.
Google Nexus 7 (2017) to be Produced by HTC
Everyone believes that the reason why the tablet wasn’t launched in 2016 is because Google didn’t agree to terms with Huawei. The Chinese manufacturer was supposed to produce the tablet but Google didn’t allow Huawei to put its brand on it. This didn’t sit well with Huawei and the two companies decided to stop working together.
According to rumors, Google is in talks with HTC right now. We should mention that HTC has helped manufacturer Google’s latest Pixel and Pixel XL smartphone offerings. This is what makes the rumor so highly plausible. If Google does decided to team up with HTC, we can be sure that Nexus 7 (2017) is going to be launched alongside Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
Many believe that Google’s upcoming tablet is actually not going to be powered by Android. Instead, Google is reportedly going to equip Nexus 7 (2017) with Andromeda OS. This operating system is supposedly a combination between Android OS and Chromebook OS. Sadly, this is very unlikely to happen. Google’s own Hiroshi Lockheimer has announced that Android OS and Chromebook OS will never be combined.
This means that Nexus 7 (2017) will actually run on Google’s standard Android OS. Taking in consideration the fact that Google is working on Android 8.0 O right now, we can be sure that once Nexus 7 (2017) comes out, it will be powered by it. The new operating system is going to tablet so much more desirable. In addition, rumor has it that Nexus 7 (2017) will be fueled by Qualcomm’s highly impressive Snapdragon 835 processor which will be paired with 6GB of RAM.
