Google Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are Being Left Behind in Favor of Pixel 2
This year is going to be a great one for smartphone lovers because Samsung, Apple and Google are scheduled to refresh their flagship smartphone lineups. Samsung has already launched its Galaxy S8 and Apple is adding the finishing the touches to the highly anticipated iPhone 8. Google is going to be the last one to unveil its Pixel 2, but according to rumors the wait will be totally worth it.
Pixel and Pixel XL
Regarding the Pixel lineup, the Android parent has already launched two Pixel smartphones and both of them have been well received. The two smartphones have been equipped with top of the shelf hardware parts and to make things even better, Google has added its latest operating system to the mix. This is the reason why both Pixel and Pixel XL are generating huge amounts of profits for Google.
Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are being Left Behind
With that being said, it’s safe to say that the upcoming Pixel 2 is going to be equally successful. In addition, Google is actually doing its best in order to ensure Pixel 2’s success, even though this means angering the Nexus community. It looks like the Android parent is leaving behind its older Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P in order to focus all of its attention on the Pixel lineup.
It all started a few months ago when Google decided to remove Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P from the Google Store in order to make room for the newer Pixel and Pixel XL. The Nexus community was angered at Google because of this bold marketing scheme. The Android parent decided to calm the situation by guaranteeing that both Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are still going to receive all of its latest updates for the years to come.
It doesn’t look like Google is keeping true to its word since Pixel and Pixel XL keep on receiving new features while Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are still waiting to receive March’s security patch. In fact, the latter have received the security patch the only problem is that it arrived kind of late in comparison with Pixel and Pixel XL. Rumor has it that Google is going to completely exclude Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P from its update cycle in order to make room for its upcoming Pixel 2. Let’s just hope these rumors are not proven to be true.
