Sony SmartWatch 3 Is Not Eligible To Receive Android Wear 2.0
Google has been quite active as of late. The tech giant recently launched Android 7.1.2 Nougat beta for its Nexus and Pixel devices. Now it looks like that’s not all that, Google is also getting ready to launch Android Wear 2.0. This operating system is said to completely change the wearable user experience in to better. With that being said, it’s easy to understand why everyone is wondering which devices will be receiving Android Wear 2.0.
Will Sony SmartWatch 3 Receive Android Wear 2.0?
We have bad news for Sony SmartWatch 3 owners. The device will not be receiving Google’s latest operating system update any time soon. The reason behind this is that Sony hasn’t been having that much success with its wearable device in terms of sales percentages. It’s a known fact that the demand for wearable devices has fallen over time. When these types of devices were first unveiled, the whole world went crazy over them. As time passed, they became known as expensive accessories.
Are Wearable Devices Expensive Smartphone Accessories?
Wearable devices have been long followed by the stigma that they are just accessories. The reason behind this is that these devices need to be paired with a smartphone to fully function. Well, Google is fully aware of that and its next operating system update has been developed especially to help smartwatches get rid of that stigma.
Android Wear 2.0 will be bringing a bunch of features with it. The most important feature is that smartwatches will now be optimized to run standalone apps. The devices will even be able to place and receive calls without the need of a smartphone to be a around. Although this will work only with LTE enabled devices.
In fact, Google has recently announced that it teamed up with LG in order to create its own “Nexus” watches. There will be two Google wearable devices and they will be called LG G Watch Style and G Sport. Even though Google’s involvement has been confirmed by both companies, the Android parent’s name won’t be engraved on the device. Nonetheless, according to rumors these wearable devices have been slated to drop on February 8th.
