Today we’re going to compare two of the best Android powered smartphones ever made. The two contestants are HTC U Ultra and Google’s own Pixel XL. The two devices were recently launched and both of them have received a lot of praise from the Android community. Right now we will take the two devices and pin them against each other, and see how well they fare against each other in terms of display and hardware power.

Pixel XL is the first ever Google “made” smartphone. The Android parent has meddled with smartphones in the past, but they were the result of partnerships with different tech manufacturers. This time, Google decided to venture on its own in the smartphone industry. Pixel XL ships with a 5.5 inch AMOLED panel. The display features an impressive pixel resolution of 1440 x 2560 and a large pixel density of 534 ppi.
HTC equipped its flagship smartphone with a slightly larger 5.7 inch Super LCD5 panel. Even though HTC U Ultra uses different display technology than Pixel XL, it features the same 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. Because the smartphone sports a bigger display, it has a smaller pixel density of 513ppi.

It looks like both Google and HTC decided to equip their devices with only the best the market had to offer. This is why U Ultra and Pixel XL are powered by the same Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 821 processor. The chipset is also paired with 4GB of RAM and an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit on both devices.

Even though we went only over display and hardware power, it’s safe to say that the two smartphones come out as equals. The only major difference in these two categories is the display technology they use. Even though HTC’s Super LCD5 is able of providing the same picture quality as Pixel XL, it uses way more battery power than Pixel XL’s AMOLED display does. In the end, it falls on the customers to choose the devices that fits their needs the most.
