Google Nexus 5X and 6P gets Google Assistant
If you own a Nexus 5X or a Nexus 6P and you were thinking of upgrading your phone to a better model, maybe you should give it a second thought. Many are being tempted to change their Nexus to a Pixel device, but hold on! Now you don’t need to upgrade the hardware anymore, since the software will receive a much anticipated feature: the Google Assistant.
Up until now, the AI assistant that goes under the name of Google Assistant was available only for Pixel and Pixel XL models. The voice-activated feature seems to become more widely used now, since Google is currently releasing it to Nexus devices too. Stephen Hall, who works at 9to5 Google, announced on Twitter that he knows about the arrival of this much wanted feature to the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P through an important update.
Even though it is awesome that the Assistant will become available for other devices too, it is not the first feature that started out as being exclusive to Pixel and then extended to other Nexus phones. According to a report published by Engadget, the latest update available for Nexus 5X also brought it the fingerprint swipe gesture, which was initially available just for Pixel. The feature lets you swipe up and down on the fingerprint sensor if you want to see your notifications and scroll through them.
Mashable also reported that Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P aren’t the only ones which are being spoiled by the tech giant. As it seems, The Android TV feature from the Nexus Player and the Android Wear 2.0 devices will also be getting the update with the Google Assistant. Moreover, even the LG G6 from the rival company will enjoy this amazing feature that competes with the Siri assistant from Apple.
