7 million Apple devices running iOS 6.0 or better Jailbroken in 4 days
The Evad3rs Jailbreak Team had released their Evasi0n jailbreak tool for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices running iOS 6.0 or iOS 6.1 on Monday. The creator of the jailbroken app store called Cydia; Jay Freeman told Forbes that, seven million devices have been freed from Apple’s walled garden in four days only.
Freeman’s alternative app store, Cydia revealed on Thursday night that 5.15 million iPhones, 1.35 million iPads, and 400,000 iPods were jailbroken using evasi0n. This is probably a world record in the number of devices jailbroken only in four days post release of any jailbreaking tool.
Forbes also reported Freeman saying that, while he is not aware of the exact numbers of the previous jailbreaks, the evasion tool has brought “insanely more new traffic” to Cydia.
Jailbreaking an iOS device means removing the limitations on Apple devices and is also similar to rooting an Android device which allows greater customization and other possibilities. Jailbreaking also lets you use connections from other network service providers unlike the devices which are not jailbroken.
