LG V20 Major Update Rolling Out by T-Mobile

The South Korean based manufacturer took the tech world by storm when it launched its latest LG V20 flagship back in October, 2016. The reason why the entire tech community was so enthusiastic about this smartphone was because it was the first gadget to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat straight out of the box. Now it looks like LG V20 has just received another major update.

According to recent reports, the major US network carrier T-Mobile started rolling out a major software update to LG V20 during this week. Even though the update weighs 583MB it doesn’t change LG V20’s build number and it will still run on Android 7.0 Nougat. Nonetheless, looking at the patch notes we can see that this update brings a bunch of bug fixes and software improvements.

It looks like the update rolled out by T-Mobile revolves around improving the Android Pay feature and improving LG V20’s audio quality alongside other minor fixes. Enhancing Android Pay is rather important because this feature gives users the option to pay for items by only using their smartphone and not having to carry cash or cards with them everywhere. While the patch notes don’t specify what the exact improvements are, we can expect that the user interface might see some changes. In regards to the audio enhancements, LG probably included some speaker optimization in the update.

The update is being rolled out only by T-Mobile right now but we can expect that all other major network carriers such as Verizon or Sprint will start rolling out during the upcoming week. The best advice we can give LG V20 users is to keep their eyes peeled at their notifications panel because the update should arrive any moment now. In case it doesn’t, users can always access the Settings panel and check for it themselves.

As refreshment, it looks like LG found the recipe for success when it equipped its device with a 5.7 inch IPS LCD display. The device is selling rather well and that’s not only because of its display but also because its powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor that’s coupled with an Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM.
