Disney Launches an Android Phone for Japan

Disney has announced that the company will be launching its own Android smartphone in the Japanese markets. It would be the Sharp Galapagos 003SH but under a new name and design. It will have a 3.8-inch glasses free 3D display and everyone who purchases the phone will get their own Disney email address and other exclusive content.

The device is powered by a 1GHz processor, has a 9.6 megapixel camera with 1Seg TV tuning and FeliCa for wireless payments. It will run Android 2.2 FroYo with Flash 10.1 support and will be topped up with a custom Disney-like UI.

There is now word whether it will be available in other regions. It is expected to hit the shelves sometime in February and will be available in six different custom cases, themed around Disney characters.
