Computer hardware manufacturer, ASUS better known for its notebooks and netbooks has teamed up with PrimeSense the guys behind the Kinect’s technology. This collaboration is to bring a controller free, gesture based gaming interface and gaming to your PC some time in 2011.

A brief overview of this new product will be a part of the CES 2011 floor. It is very similar to Xbox 360’s Kinect although this has a different name and inclined towards PC users. This device is called WAVI Xtion, disappointing name indeed. This system pairs with PrimeSense’s 3D motion capture camera technology (the Xtion) with a transmitter/receiver (the Wireless Audio & Video Interaction System, WAVI) to get the gesture controlled tasks done.
By introducing the Xtion WAVI, ASUS hopes that this will bring the next generation of user interface to your computers and will take your PC’s out of your study and put them in your living rooms. Initially the devices would enable interaction with multimedia, social networks and some gesture based games. It will be released sometime in Q2 2011.
