Android 4.0 ICS based HTC Desire U announced for China and Taiwan

HTC recently announced a new smartphone which it calls the Desire U. This is an affordable Android smartphone from the Taiwanese manufacturer which has currently been announced for consumers in China and Taiwan.

The HTC Desire U will sport a 4-inch WVGA resolution display (800×480 pixels) and it will be powered by a 1GHz single core processor. It runs Android 4.0 ICS out of the box and it is not yet confirmed whether it will receive a Jelly Bean update at a later date.

The device comes in black and white. Apart from the aforementioned it includes 512MB of RAM, 4GB of built-in storage, a microSD card slot and a 5 megapixel rear camera.

In terms of the connectivity the device is equipped with 3G capability, Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. It also has beats Audio integration.

As of now the device is only announced for China and Taiwan but a slightly tweaked version of the same is expected to arrive in other markets at a later date.
