Tata Sky is all prepared to offer improved TV services as the company has partnered with Swedish telecom company Ericsson to provide advanced DTH services to Indian consumers. This partnership will bring on-demand programming and catch-up TV to Indian households.

This new service is based on a Media Delivery Network (MDN) which is a media-centric content delivery, distribution and management solution from Ericsson. It will use Ericsson’s WatchPoint Content Management System, Xport Time-Shifted TV and Xport Producer storage encoding. The company will also provide operation and maintenance for this new service from Tata Sky.
Both the services are quite similar the major difference is that on-demand services allow users to watch movies and documentaries from Tata Sky’s existing library while the catch-up service allows users to watch shows that have already been aired. We are yet unaware of the pricing for these new services, however we will let you know more on these changes once we have the information.
