Intex Announces Aqua Power Smartphone with Massive Battery at an Affordable Price

Cheap Android smartphones don’t have great batter life, this is something that most of us knows buy now. However, there are some OEMs that try to come up with unique devices, such as the new Aqua Power smartphone from Intex.

The Aqua Power smartphone comes with with a gigantic battery capacity of 4000mAh, which is something that we rarely encounter in the land of affordable devices. The handset launches at a price of Rs. 8,499, which is around $137. The big battery should deliver up to 11 hours of talk time and up to 500 hours of standby time.

However, it’s not the single one with this characteristic, but it’s definitely among the cheapest. The smartphone will compete against the like of Lenovo P780, Micromax Canvas Power, Lenovo S860, Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, and Xolo Q3000, just in terms of batter life.

It features a 5 inch 854x480p display with IPS panel and runson Android 4.4 KitKat. The display isn’t that great, so this is a clear sign that a compromise had to be made. But there’s good news on the software side, as Intex has promised that a Lollipop update for this device should be ready by March-April, next year.

Despite being quite cheap, it packs an 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek processor along with 1GB of RAM. There’s just 8GB of internal storage, but it can be expanded via a 32GB microSD card. Another nice feature is that it has an 8MP autofocus camera at the rear and a 2MP camera at the front.

Connectivity-wise, it comes with 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth. The Intex Aqua Power is a dual-SIM device, and it will be available online-only. The smartphone comes in four color options: White, Black, Blue and Grey, but nothing too fancy.

If battery is your main concern and you don’t care too much about the display, or you don’t want it to be incredibly shiny, then this could prove to be an interesting proposal.
