Motorola Resurrects its RAZR Series with a New DROID Smartphone

We already heard a few things about this upcoming device this is the same smartphone which was earlier known as the Motorola Spyder. The company recently made it official with Verizon Wireless and this device is the new DROID RAZR. Yes, Motorola has finally brought by its famous RAZR series and this one runs Android and would be coming to the carrier sometime in November.

The Motorola DROID RAZR is a LTE capable smartphone which sports a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED touchscreen which is protected by a Gorilla Glass. It runs Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread (upgradable to Android ICS later) and it is powered by a 1.2 GHZ TI OMAP 4430 processor. Other specifications include 1GB of RAM8 megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, 16GB built-in storage which can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card and the smartphone will be compatible with Lapdock 100 and Lapdock 500 Pro.

The most attractive feature of the device is its sleekness. The Motorola DROID RAZR is just 7.1 mm thick making it one of the slimmest smartphone available in the market. While this adds a lot of edge to the device there is yet another impressive feature and that is its supposedly amazing battery life. The DROID RAZR is powered by an 1800 mAh battery and Motorola claims that it can provide up to 12.5 hours of talktime and 9 hours of video playback.

Additionally, Motorola has also introduced a new application which comes pre-loaded on the smartphone and it is called SmartActions. It allows users to manage the battery life, as after the battery goes below 20% the smartphone automatically reduces the processor speed when on calls, dim the screen and reduce the data usage. It can also automatically switch off Bluetooth when reaching home or office.

Another new feature is MotoCast which is a cloud based application and it allows users to stream or download videos, music, images or documents from their laptop or desktop. The enterprise applications which come pre-loaded include Motorola Weptop, Citirx Receiver and video conferencing features.

The pre-order of the device will start October 27 in the US and the devices will hit the stores sometime in November. The company has also mentioned that the smartphone will be available in Canada as the Motorola RAZR, but now word about its availability in India.
