HP announces Slate 500 Tablet running Windows 7

Recently, HP announced the HP Slate 500, a tablet PC running Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system. The tablet goes head on with Apple’s iPad and I doubt that it has any chance of surviving in the tablet market but, then again these are just assumptions and who knows what happens.

Here are the specifications and the features of the HP Slate 500 Tablet PC:

  • 8.9-inch capacitive multi-touch display (1,024×600 resolution)
  • Front facing camera
  • 3-megapixel camera on the back with video recording capability
  • 1.8Ghz intel Atom Z540 Processor
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 64GB SSD
  • Broadcom Crystal HD Accelerator
  • 1080p Video
  • HDMI Port
  • WiFi
  • Windows Phone 7
  • Ctrl + Alt + Del Key
  • Comes with Dock and Case

Now, the specifications looks far better compared to the Apple iPad and also the Samsung Galaxy Tab, but then nobody really knows what this tablet is all about as HP had no event scheduled for its launch and they just threw in a simple press release. I feel this was their biggest mistake as, consumers should be given reasons by the company which will make them buy their products, that is what Apple does and is really good at it and that is also what Samsung tried to do with the Galaxy Tab.

Anyways let us know what you think about the HP Slate 500 and also leave a comment below if you have any views about tablets in general.
