Finally, an end to the new-generation iPhone rumors, well at least for a while as Apple has officially announced the iPhone 4S. This new-generation iPhone smartphone looks exactly the same as the iPhone 4, however comes with some improved hardware.

The iPhone 4S will be powered by a dual-core A5 processor and a new dual-core GPU, which Apple claims will improve the graphics performance by 7x. The device will have the same Retina Display screen as the iPhone 4. Another new impressive feature is the antenna upgrade, which has now been intelligently revamped to switch between two different sets of antennae on the go and without any effort from the user. Apple claims this will avoid dropping calls no matter how you hold it and it will also improve the call quality.
It will be global phone as it will include support for dual-mode GSM and CDMA radio. This sounds like a great add-on and makes the iPhone slightly more enterprise-friendly. Users will be able to enjoy 14.4 Mbps HSPA+ or EVDO connections.

Another upgrade introduced in the iPhone 4S is the brand new camera which has now got an 8 megapixel sensor along with backside illuminated CMOS sensor which will help users capture better images in low-light areas. The lens also comes with a hybrid IR filter and features apertures down to f/2.4. Additionally, the iPhone 4S records videos at 1080p, it has a facial recognition and a new image signal processor for image stabilization. Moreover, the camera is quite fast compared to other Android phone cameras. It needs just 1.1 seconds to capture the first image and another half second between following images.
The iPhone 4S pre-orders will start on October 7 and the device will hit the shelves on October 14, however this is specific to the US market. It will come in three variants and will come with a two-year contract on Sprint, 16GB is priced at $199, 32GB is priced at $299 and 64GB is priced at $399. Apple has also mentioned that this would be the fastest roll out ever as it is coming to over 70 countries and 100 carries. Well, we are very confident that it should arrive in the Indian market by the end of this year, most probably in November.
