Apple iPhone 5 sales cross 5 million in first weekend, iOS 6 has 100 million users

The Apple iPhone 5 was definitely the most awaited smartphone of this year and since its launch it has been an instant hit. Apple earlier revealed that the company managed to sell two million units just as pre-orders in the first 24 hours. Now the company has revealed some amazing numbers as it has managed to sell five million iPhone 5s in the first weekend. Additionally, the company also revealed that over a 100 million users have upgraded to the new iOS 6 on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch combined.

Currently, the iPhone 5 is being sold only in eight countries including – USA, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Australia. The Apple iPhone 5 will arrive in another 22 countries starting September 28 and in over 100 countries by the end of this year. It will be interesting to see how well it does against the Samsung’s Galaxy S III which has seen over 20 million units sold in the last three months.
